This manual page is outdated. NEW PAGE: Desktop Blogging Tools in b2evolution v5+.

b2evolution version 2.4

Desktop blogging clients allow you to post to your blog from a regular Windows or Mac application. That means you don't have to log in into your admin interface to blog.

These clients require to be set up in order to communicate with b2evolution through an XML API.

Clients that support RSD (Really Simple Discoverability) will be much easier to set up. All you will need to know are your blog url, login and password.

Contents

[edit] ScribeFire

Formely know as Performancing for Firefox.

Very easy to configure (as of b2evo 2.4)

The URL http://www.yourSite.org/xmlsrv/xmlrpc.php

[edit] Windows Live Writer

Very easy to configure (as of b2evo 2.4)

Use this as the configuration URL:

http://www.yourSite.org/xmlsrv/xmlrpc.php

[edit] Ecto

Windows version: fairly easy to configure.

RSD support seems to be incomplete. Ecto seems to not understand that different blogs can have different categories.

[edit] w.bloggar

Does not support RSD.

Complicated to configure.

The service URL it wants you to specify is: http://example.com/your-blog-folder/xmlsrv/xmlrpc.php

[edit] Kblogger

Easy to configure.

Enter this into the Blog's ID field: http://www.yoursite.com/xmlsrv/xmlrpc.php

If you have more than one blog then in the Blog-ID drop down enter the blog id# you want to post to.

Unfortunately at the moment if you want to another blog on your site you need to go back to the configuration dialog and enter the new blog id#.
