[edit] Introduction

You put a lot of time and effort into making your skin be exactly what you want, and now you see your blog engine has been upgraded. Should you upgrade and lose your skin? Should you upgrade and try to recreate your skin? Should you upgrade and follow an online guide to upgrading your skin? I'd pick option 3, but that's just me ;)

When you upgrade your version of b2evolution be prepared to use the 'custom' skin while you work on your own skin again. These guides are written to help you, but - of course - no one can promise that you'll have it all down instantly. Your skin is, after all, unique to your blog. No one writing an upgrade procedure can guess at all the custom tricks you've done with either PHP or CSS or both.

Thanks for understanding! Now let's get your skin looking cool in the latest release!

[edit] Upgrading your 0.9.2 skin to the 1.6 release

"Converting old skins to the new way" is a blog post which is, effectively, obsolete. If you're using 0.9.2 (Sparkle) and want to upgrade you should choose the 1.8 (Summer beta) release instead.

[edit] Upgrading your 0.9.2 skin to the 1.8 release

You've got a blog running b2evolution version 0.9.2 and want to upgrade your blog and personalized skin to 1.8? Good for you! If all goes well this is the page you need.

[edit] Upgrading your 1.6 skin to the 1.8 release

If you already have a personalized skin that works with b2evolution 1.6 and you now want to upgrade it to work with 1.8, then this guide shows you how.
